our product philosophy & processes

ecostore is an ethical company which has an holistic approach to product development. This means we evaluate the implications and impact of our processes on living systems every step of the way.

Precautionary Approach
We practice the precautionary approach with regard to the ingredients we use which means that if there is any doubt about the safety of an ingredient for people's health or for the environment, we will look for a safer alternative.

Less is More Approach
We believe in using the minimum number of raw materials required to achieve the best results.

Our Commitment to Excellence in Research and Development
We are a science based company. We solicit the help of world recognised scientist and humanitarian Ray Avery as our lead formulating chemist (2010's New Zealander of the Year) and other chemists experienced in eco chemistry. We are constantly reviewing our products, as new science comes to hand we evaluate and change to improve our formulations.

Full Disclosure on Product Labels
One of the goals for ecostore is to be fully transparent which includes listing all ingredients on our product labels (even when we're not asked to - which is the case with cleaning products).

The Ongoing Journey
Eco science is rapidly developing so at any one time, we will have product formulations that we know could be improved; rest assured we will keep challenging ourselves to do better.

Rose and Cardamom HandwashSimple and Elegant solutions

One of our chief product formulators is Ray Avery.

He follows the Einstein principle that, 'The most simple solution is the most elegant.'

Ray says, 'The laundry liquid ecostore launched is an example. This contains just two active ingredients and is as effective as a conventional cleaner, which is laden with five or six chemical ingredients'.
