The guiding principle of our formulations is that the end product must not only be good for the planet, but must also be good for the user – individual health issues are at the forefront of product development. The ingredients we use are a key factor in helping us to achieve this.

Making healthier lifestyle choices

Many health conscious people are aware of the potential hazards associated with eating food that has been sprayed with pesticides and chemically laden fertilisers. They eat organically grown food, drink filtered water, and balance this with plenty of exercise and fresh air. But what is often overlooked are the toxic chemicals we use every day in our household cleaning and body care products. These can be absorbed through the respiratory system and - alarmingly - through the skin.*

Reduce potentially harmful chemicals in your life

The skin is our largest organ and it can absorb chemicals from the every day products that we use at home. Laundry products are a good example - they can leave residues of synthetic chemicals in clothes, underwear and bed linen which are in contact with your skin 24 hours a day. Perspiration or other bodily fluids can then reactivate these chemicals and cause potential health problems from minor things like itchiness to more severe eczema, dermatitis and other allergies. Some of the chemicals that are commonly used in household products have even been linked with weakening the immune system and with promoting cancer.

Safer, healthier household and personal care products

The ecostore range consists of more than 100 products, all of which are manufactured in New Zealand to the latest environmental and sustainability standards. The utmost care is taken in the selection of ingredients for our products. This can be very difficult as there is usually evidence both for and against the safety of any particular chemical. Chlorine is a good example of this.

Precautionary approach to ingredients

This means that if there is any doubt about the safety of an ingredient we will not use it. Instead we will look for a safer alternative. Our customers will find a full list of ingredients disclosed on the back of any of our products - that is something that is still not legally required in New Zealand.
