Ingredient details
Benzotriazoles such as 1,2,3-Benzotriazole are petrochemical derived ingredients which have many functions but are often added to dishwasher detergents to prevent corrosion or rust which occurs from the addition of Oxygen-based bleaches in the moist environmentii. 1,2,3 -Benzotriazole can cause eye irritation, is harmful if swallowedvi and has been classified by the Dutch Expert Committee on Occupational Standards as a suspected Human Carcinogenvii. Benzotriazoles are also chemicals which have low biodegradabilityvi, a cause for concern considering they are often not removed during wastewater treatment and are also toxic to aquatic organismsvi. Benzotriazoles are essentially an additive to dishwasher detergents. REFERENCES: ii) Benzotriazole and Tolyltriazole as Aquatic Contaminants. 1.
